Vignettes of moods and moments expressed in spontaneously created musical interludes. Snippets of jazz, swirling New Age synth colors, Don Slepian's music is a musical stream of consciousness. Enjoy improbable transitions between fragments of music which weave into a most creative whole.
New Possibilities For The Instrumental Keyboard Soloist
Slepian shows the digital synthesizer as a new form of solo concert instrument. He presents this keyboard art in the form of short improvisations on original jazz and classical themes. Visual close-ups of good keyboard playing will surely inspire other keyboard players.
Synth Harmony Video Podcast Series
Keyboard playing, up close and detailed. When do you get more than a few glances at a keyboard performance up close? If you are a keyboard player, this clear view of simple, easy live performance pieces for electronic instruments are both enjoyable and informative. If your listening tastes include New Age melodic keyboard fantasies then it is well worth a listen as well as a look.
Instruments In These Performances
Infinite Response VAX-77 controller MIDI keyboard, covered with some home made wooden veneer. A Korg Nano-Kontrol connected to a Mac Mini running my custom software in Plogue Bidule does the voicing. The main sounds in most of these pieces come from the Kurzweil K2600R MIDI module. I also use a collection of virtual instruments mixed live with foot pedals, such as Rob Papen's "Blue II", Spectrasonics "Omnisphere", and Tone2's "Ray Blaster".
